Yep, she did something... ah kids.

What virus scanner did you use?
What other checks did you do?

Go into Internet Explorer and clear the cache
(Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Temporary Internet Files (it's in the middle) > Delete Files

I feel the need to point out that this probably wouldn't have happened if you were using Firefox.

Firefox doesn't let sites install programs like Internet Explorer does. Firefox blocks pop-ups, it'll copy over your settings (bookmarks, cookies) so you don't lose anything. The main thing I like about Firefox (yes, I use it. So does my mom, and she's a granma) is that it's customizable.

Why is customizability important?

Imagine if you could do two simple things and never see another image ad again. No banner ads, no iframe ads, no flash ads. It takes less than 2 minutes.

Imagine playing music and the phone rings. Imagine being able to pause it without switching to your computer's music player.

These are Firefox addons. They're Free!

Adblock Plus - http://adblockplus.org
Adblock Filterset.G Updater - https://addons.mozilla.org/mozilla/1136/

this is a serious virus, disconnect your internet, and virus check. Also if you go to the start menu All Programs/Acsessories/System Tools/System Restore. When you load system Restore follow the steps and choose a date when it wasn't happening.

Try running a full virus scan. Check for spyware/malware with spy doctor. That should sort it.

on menu bar go to. tools /options /connections select never dial a connection. chances are you have it set dial when ever a network connection is not present. if this does not fix your problem chances are you may have virus but its not likely.
