there are approximately 250 species of camellias , so you've got work cut out choosing the best , but sincerely , they all yield beautiful flowers , and I'm proud to have them in my garden beds .. and Camellia is indeed a lovely name .

They are wonderfully elegant shrubs/small trees, if your climate zone is warm enough (my Virginia Zone 7 is borderline). Gorgeous glossy green leaves, tidy growth habit, beautiful flowers. Here, the flowers will sometimes get zapped and turn to brown mush in an unusually early (fall) or late (spring) frost, but they're beautiful most years.

Oh gracious yes I like them! But alas, they are for freeze free climates. Great winter blooming flowers.......worth a trip to warmer winter climates just to see them. Pretty shrubs.....often pretty big shrubs.
