1. Have a regular time and location to study.
2. Get ahold of upcoming lessons and read ahead.
3. Work with someone who can help you - not distract you.
4. No TV. ( a little quiet background music is acceptable)
5. Learn memory techniques. Do not rely on rote memory.
6. Use colored post its to mark , "must knows, could knows, and should knows. Remember - most of your hard cover books are filler. Focus on what your teacher wants you to know.
7. Eating before study causes blood to go from the brain to the stomach. Watch when you eat.
8. Get plenty of rest. Don't party on school nights.
9. Do "all your assignments!" "Write all your tests!" - falling behind because of missed assignments or classes will make studying difficult. If you have to miss a class - have someone provide you with notes and the teacher if you're confused. DO NOT FALL BEHIND!!!!
10. Set a goal for yourself in each subject you take and shoot high. That is to say...shoot for an A and you'll most likely get a B. Write your goal in the present tense - I.e. It is Jun 2007 and I have completed Math 30 with an A plus. (Describe the reaction of your teacher/parents/friends and how good you feel about achieving your goal. "Remember - if a goal doesn't have a time limit set on it - your goal is just a dream!"
11. Never get into a tiff with your teacher - show genuine interest and you'll see a higher grade.
12. Keep good notes - no...excellent notes. Notes that refer back to your text book and highlight the must knows! Have a table of contents.
I could probably come up with more but these are probably the best points I can remember...good luck with your studies.

For short facts, flash cards. Run through the deck, remove the ones you get right, keep cycling through them.
For more detailed studying, it depends on the person. Tricks to try would be to record yourself reading the material, and then listen to it. Write the things you want to remember down. Read the material out loud. This forces different parts of your brain to process the material, instead of just reading.

Just remember to study and review your lessons everyday for atleast 30 minutes, one by one, so that it will be retained in your BRAIN. After studying your lessons, test yourself to see if you have already mastered every piece of information and see your mistakes.
Then lastly, review your mistakes. Do this everyday and you will surely get through your subjects easily and smoothly.

You need a routine.
Note cards are very helpful and just put a little info on them and bring them with you to work or where ever you go and you will be amazed at how much you remember with out trying!

Depends upon your learning style.
For me, as i am a practical, hands on learner i prefer, images, and actual, hands of stuff.
I also find that working towards a final, treat at the end often helps.
