Of course I could. I am a confectioner in a medium sized business, and we make all our cakes by hand whenever possible. Some cakes do need to be made with one though, but just like milkshakes, I find cakes are a lot nicer when you do them by hand.
Besides, mixing by hand is a good way to strengthen your muscles, especially if you have to do it many times in a row, or if you have a stiff batter. It's a nice endurance activity, and the treat at the end of it is well worth it.

I make cakes without a mixer all the time. I hate the hassle of dragging it out, finding all the attachments, and then having to clean it all and put it back up again.
Just use a wire whisk and make sure you get all the lumps out.....the cake turns out just as good as if you HAD used a mixer, in my opinion.

It depends on the type of cake, but usually, yes you can survive. I lived without one for 5 years.

I did it for many years without a mixer. Just use a strong whisk and a stronger arm.
I do, however, love my Kitchenaid mixer and the fact that I now have counter space to HAVE a Kitchenaid!

A lot of flour will be very hard. A cake mixer will be better.https://www.twothousand.com/dough-mixers/

But of course. God gave us arms before he gave intelligence to make mixers. This brings a new meaning to pampered chef.
