Even if you live to 100, it is only a moment compared to time the earth has been around. Even the longest lives are short.
Death is the only garauntee in life, as they say. The only way to prolong life would be to spend it in a high school math class, which always lasts an eternity. But, even then you will die of boredom.
Too many people work so hard earning money to get a real life (one of travel, excitement and fun), that by the time they have earned enough to get that life, they are too old and decrepit to do anything or something has interfered with their plans.
Some are born dead and some live longer than they want. But I think in the end, no one is prepared to die. I have a friend I predict will OD sometime in the near future. Even if is 50 years down the road, it is the near future to me.
I remember being in the sixth grade, thinking, "Wow. next year I will be in the 7th grade, then the 8th, et cetera, and then I will go to college." Now I am in college, having the same thoughts about getting a job. I want it to be over and I want it to last all at the same time.

Well I read your article and I suppose I can tell you "Carpe Diem" and all that, which of course means to sieze the day! Thats the commercialized response. I would like to say that your life is broken up into days. The days make up the whole of your life just like how your DNA makes up who you are so does each day. So to make the most of yourself and your life live each day. Make each day worth it. No one knows what tommorrow brings but try to live a good life. This does not mean of course do what you want as tommorrow may come and you have to live with the consequences but try to each day live a good life. When the time comes and death is at your door you will have ensured you had not wasted the time you had.

yes it is.........
my father pasted away little over a year ago. he was a great father even though he prefered to drink sometimes than to be w/ his 2 kids. he was diganose w/ liver disease 4 yrs before he left us. had he quit drinking then he would have been able to get a liver transplant and would still be w/ us today. he died at the age of 52. not nearly old enough if you ask me. what is sad to me is that he will never be there for is grand kids or to walk me down the isle at my wedding.
Im sorry about your friends but they are in a better place now.

In the grand scheme of things, we are but a grain of sand, washed from the shore when our brief time is up. We don't know when the wave will hit...it is so unpredictable. All we can do is settle beside the other grains, all of a different shape size and color, some of which we fit with, others we clash with, and wait...and make the best of that wait.

i did ask myself this question very long time ago. after think for awhile, i asked myself how long is consider long enough. there was no answer for it for long time until i came across a chinese proverb. the proverb sound like "from beginning of time, which human born on earth will never die". from the proverb i found the answer.
i learned few things important from the proverb. 1st thing, man should identify what is their objective of life and work hard towards it instead of complaining time is not enough. 2nd thing, the most precious thing in every man life is time. we should not waste time for unnecessary things. 3rd thing, human use time to earn money to buy needs and wants. we should not waste the money. last and not least, death is something man can not avoid and we should not sit down and worry about the end of our life. on the other hand, we should use our time to create positive contribution to the society as many as possible for our next generation.
i have my own life objective which is to achieve peace on the world and fulfilment of humankind's potential. currently i am doing my traineeship in another country and i feel that time is full of excitement and challenging. i have limited budget for my long journey and keep some saving for any future unaspected challenges. although the effort and the time i invest in now is not clearly show that i can achieve my objective before i have to pass my role to next generation, i will work as passionate as possible to create a platform for next generation to continue my effort.
although i have not achieve 30 years young, the life is already long for me because of the achievement i have done to the society and hearts i touched. i do not afraid of die because die will not able stop my effort to achieve peace on the world and fulfilment of humankind's potential.

Hm... I'll have to think about this during school... And yes, life can be over before you even know it... Even the hundreds of days that have past could've felt like only a month... Very thought-provoking... thanks!
