We may have lost the peace but we have won the war. If people want more either send in more troops like 750,00 or just blow the suckers to pieces. We do have the technology there is no reason for further loss of American life.

For me it is simple. What were the objectives of American government before they entered Iraq. Did they meet the objectives? War is a zero sum game.

The terms "winning" and "losing" are political terms used by politicians to get votes in most instances. When politics intrudes upon the battelfield it always creates problems. A military victory is different than a political victory. War is an extension of politics to the battlefield so it can get murky when the politicians try to take control of military strategy and tactics, and that is what will happen in Iraq. Let the generals do what they do and it would get done. It might not be pretty and it might make a real bad mess but the problem would be addressed. Cities like Dresden and Tokyo where in shambles after the bombers got done, and it made the point, but today the political wimps and crybabies have ruined things to the point where any military operation will turn into a political stalemate. The US military could level every city in Iraq into sheets of pretty glass beads and wipe out 90% of the population but no... politicians want a clean, sanitary pick and chose type of potshot operation that gets almost nowhere. If Iraq is a threat to US security then bomb the entire place into dust and go home; leave the survivors to dig themselves out of the rubble with their bare hands and the sheer effort required for them to stay alive will keep them out of the terrorism business for decades.

If the US leaves and Iran crosses the border and takes over, who the hell cares? They can have it. If the US keeps on keeping on the way it has been we will still be having the same discussions and asking the same questions 20 years from now. It will never end.

Wow what an intelligent statement. You can't tell but I'm being sarcastic. You're a friggin moron if you actually think this way. Yeah, just blow them up and that will solve all the US's problems. Loser. You must be an idiot if you think that would benefit the US. You can't blow up a country and expect the world to turn a blind eye. Especially since you instigated this war on false pretence to begin with. You'd have more things to worry about than North Korea. The rest of the world would never support this and as much as you think America is untouchable you obviously have no idea how an action like this would negatively affect the US. You obviously need to be educated a little more than you are and you need to realize that talking like that just shows the rest of us how truly stupid and ignorant you are.
Oh yeah, when did the US win the war in Iraq? For some reason I can't remember when that happened.
Hmmm....maybe it's because you're delusional and it didn't happen.

Kicking Saddam was easy. Tell me, was Vietnam a victory?
Facing an enemy that hides through the crowd is a nightmare. When this enemy is large but hidden in the population, the only popups when it is in their advantage and for a short time.
That was Vietnam, and this is Iraq. How long can we maintain that?

You're right, but if we decide to simply go all-out, there are many Iraqis who would think that we're doing so to take over. Not only that, but the time in which we could baby the newly elected Iraqi government is passed. The time in which we could baby the Iraqi PEOPLE has passed. THEY need to stand up for themselves. Otherwise, we'll never get out of there.
Besides, if we pull out now, it'll be another Vietnam. We can't afford another Vietnam.
So we're stuck.

The point of the invasion was not simply to oust Saddam - any idiot could have done that (and an idiot did so). The point was to ensure Iraq would not be a breeding ground for terrorism. It wasn't in 2003, but is now and probably stil will be when America leaves. You will have failed to achieve your objectives - that is not victory.

We didn't win the war. I do agree we should pull out and carpet bomb the place to oblivion though.
