People still sell other people in Africa like a commodity. This is where the slave trade originated and it seems like people are still treated as merchandise to be bought and sold. It happens in India, too, where the price is anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 for an unborn fetus, which is more than most people would make in 10 or 20 years of working. Madonna just went to the store and made a purchase like anyone would go to the store and buy groceries.

Madonna , supports the orphages and has donated three Million dollars to help the orphans in Africa. Why would you be mad that someone rich could take the sweet little boy named David and give him a good, life ? I am in hopes Madonna will send for the Father to live in Europe and help with his little boy. Did you see the sweet little face of David ? He was in desperate need of a family. No one ever came to the orphanage and spent good time with little David. She saw him and immediately, loved him. She did not buy David , like she would a pet. She adopted him, because no one else would. I know Madonna will never keep the little David from knowing his people. She is a good, kind , loving, rich woman. Even David's Father said, if Madonna did not adopt little David, he knew it wouldn't be long and David would be dead. Now the Father is happy for his little boy. If you think it is so wrong, then why don't your people go to Africa and see how bad it really is. Many little children need good homes. Even Oprah, thought what Madonna did was good. All your race should go together to try to save these struggling people in Africa. Help them. They need your help. So get all your people together and help them.

I think international adoption is great. It opens the child up to culture they wouldn't have probably had the chance to experience and the adoptive parent can follow the native culture's traditions like for birthdays. Madonna did basically buy the child and that is WRONG. She should be no exception to adoption laws. In the country she adopted from, you are supposed to spend 18 months with the child and we see how that went. If celebrities are just like us they should have to follow laws just like us. The father was also illiterate and did not understand the papers he was signing. So he was taken for granted. He also said that he hoped to adopt him back once he could afford it. International adoption is great way for cultures to mix and experience another part but laws are laws and should be followed by everyone, NO EXCEPTIONS.

I don't see a problem with adopting outside your race, although it may be easier for the child in the long run to be adopted by parents of the same race. What bothers me and why these celebrities keep going to other countries, when the US had alot of kids that needs homes. Unfortunately, I'm not in the financial position to adopt or I would definitely look in my home country.

It blows my mind to hear stuff like this. I don't even like Madonna but she adopted a child who had been living in an orphanage since he was 2 weeks old because the father couldn't take care of him or afford to feed him, etc. They say the orphanage didn't even have medicine or enough food to feed the children they have there. Don't you think he'll have a better chance of survival now? All of his siblings and his mother died of aids. Would that be better for him just so he could stay with his culture? I don't think so.

He is going to grow up in a stable environment, Madonna has millions and he will be able to be educated and probably since he knows his roots are in Africa he might go back when he is older and try to help other children and people in Africa maybe the adoption happened for a reason so he can help his fellow africans

She didn't buy the kid, she adopted him. She wants to help those who are in need. I know that Africa is a poverty stricken continent because i live on the southern tip. But just because Madonna adopts a child, now everyone is making an issue. Why is it an issue now and not when Angelina Jolie adopted Maddox or Zahara? Answer that one!!!!! Black people grow up wherever they want to, but you are being racist and your attitude is not appreciated at all! Angie took those children away from their native countries, what is it such an issue now?

Life in an orphanage or with madonna? I'd pick the orphange for myself but I'm not an impoverished 30 month old living in a squalid orphange in sub-saharan africa because my mother died of aids and my father is to poor to feed himself let alone me.

How many African orphans have you adopted?

i think a child should be adopted by a loving home where they will be fed clothed and nurtured. i do not see color as an issue for a friend of mine is of oriental descent adopted and raised by white parents and he was /is very well rounded and loved.
I only question if she did this for publicity or to be a mom again
