why do you fall forward when a moving bus decelerates to a stop and fall backward when it accelerates from the rest.expalain the mechanism, other than the inertia theorem. also refer me to a web for more information

During acceleration and braking, your feet are stationary in relation to the bus. If the co-efficient of friction between your feet and the bus was low, your body would slide forward under braking. Since your feet are not going to move, the rest of your body will due to having no outside forces acting upon them. Think of Newtons laws.

Centre of gravity plays a role where your head will move more based on your height since this is based on your distance from the applied force on your feet. Think of a free body diagram in a different way. If your body is moving at a constant speed, the change in velocity by the bus creates a force at your feet.

I think it is because of the inertia, when a moving bus stops nearly suddenly your body will fall forward because before the bus stops your body had an inertia, so it will move for a short time before stopping while your legs stop because they connect to the bus
and the answer is the similar with the sittuation of falling backward

Imagine yourself in a moving bus, u r at rest relative to the bus but ur moving with the same same speed as bus relative to the earth. when the bus applies brake ur body which is moving with bus stop immidiately and u feel a force pushing u backward. But ur legs are stationary on the bus so u fall backward.
Same thing when the bus is not moving ur body and legs are stationary w.r.t bus and earth. As the bus starts moving ur body feels a force pushing u forward because ur legs are stationary.(bus wants ur body to move but ur legs dont. )
so u feel falling forward.
Well, if u still dont understand this mechanism stand in a bus or train, remember what i said and u will understand it urself.

when ur body is on the bus with u r body lying on it like a dead body and fix urself to the bus ur a part of the bus itslf.but when ur standing on the bus u do not make full contact withe bus and u r not fixed to the bus u feel like moving forward when it decelerates. well i dont know about any of the sites yet.ask ur teacher it........wellllll try www.mtg.in

if you were hanging from the ceiling, like a bat, your feet would go forward when the bus stopped. you see, the place where you are "attached" to the bus stays still, which is normally your feet, and the rest of your goes forward when the bus stops and vice versa when it accelerates
