In the Shakespearian era, going to the theater was THE thing to do. There was no TV or computers and not many people could read either. People would gather at the theater to watch the plays, and to mingle with fellow members of society. As far as Shakespeare is conserned, I'm sure that going to one of his plays was a fantastic experience!!!

Horrible. People didn't bathe, they doused themselves with perfume, or you got used to body odor. Manners were either exagerated, or non-existent. Food was difficult to come by, the markets were open stalls, with insects crawling all over the produce. Women's rights were non-existent. Men dominated the scene. The more you hear of it, the lexx you will want to be there.

Other than the village idiot it would have been the only entertainment so it would have been great. TV has killed that for most as now we are used to it.
