No, certainly not. I have only got a 2 year diploma and I have manged to exceed everyone's expectations career wise. But - and this is a big but - if you are not willing to work hard or are entering a very competitive field, then a 4 year degree will be essential. Also I should note that at some point I will probably upgrade my diploma to a degree, but not because I have to, because I want to.

It depends on what you want to do with your life. There are certain careers that require a 4 year degree at a minimum. There are other careers that require graduate degrees. There are careers for which no degree is required but people with degrees move up faster. Then there are careers requiring no degree. Some fields such as nursing can be entered with a ASN (associate degree) or a BSN (bachelor degree) or an MSN (master degree). Decide what you want career you want and then talk to people in that field to get their advice.

no...but if you want to get your foot in the door of some company and if you don't know anyone that can vouch for your ability you will need that. Due to some extenuating circumstances, I started working right after high school and now I'm older and every job that i have had was just based on my experiences but getting promotions was and is a problem...without a College degree you will always hit a"ceiling" where you won't be able to move above. I will be starting college next year.........
Good luck

Not necessarily.
People who work in convenience stores, fast food, or as clerks in big box retailers seldom need a college degree.
People with intense internal motivations to succeed may rise to any level in life with or withour a degree, but these people are rare and their stories are not typical.
In general, people with higher levels of education are qualified for more responsible jobs involving specialized knowlege and offering higher rates of pay.
Over a lifetime a typical degree-holder can expect to earn up to millions of dollars more than a typical high-school graduate.
