The compass follows the direction except East and West are mixed up -- but only part of the time. Once it starts doing that it will continue until the engine is off for a period of time.

I have run it through a calibration as described in the owners manual but it comes back. It appears to move with the directions I am turning.... just reads backward.

Probably the compass module under the mirror if I remember the location went south (broken not the direction) ..something internally causing it to sense wrong and giving backwards readings

You got the Australian model. You can either get the right one, or move to Perth.

Maybe it's set up for the southern hemisphere.
