Early labor can feel like menstrual cramps, or a backache, or a variety of other things. Time them, if they are regular and 10 minutes apart, You're in labor....If you're not due yet, go to the ER or call your doctor immediately.

Labor contractions make you want to roll into a ball and scream your head off all the way thru them. Not all contractions start off at 10 minutes apart. Mine started every 3 minutes and quickly went to ontop of each other. Normally you have some pain like mentraul cramping and backache but in my case I lost the mucas plug then had the bloody show within half hour then 3 hours later I felt like someone was trying to kill me and contained myself thru the contractions til the doctor tried getting me to walk and I looked at him and asked him if he would walk with me and he said he couldnt considering by then my contractions were 1 minutes apart. Labor varies by the person. You may be having Braxton hicks contractions that feel alot like menstral cramps and can be in ur back also. I would call the doctor or the hospital ur gonna have the baby at and ask them. Good luck

Sometimes. Assuming we're talking about natural labor, it depends on how fast the labor is progressing and how the baby is positioned, and perhaps most on the environment the mother is laboring in.

My labor contractions felt like very intense menstrual cramps, in addition to rather severe pain in my back.

real labor contractions can start in different ways...some have severe cramps and some just have a real bad backache..one thing i noticed in about every time i gave birth i felt real good one day and the next day i did not and i started having back aches and then just did not feel good...then i felt a lot of pressure and then my water broke...but not every one has labor in the same way...you can feel pains and then it seems like the baby is in a hard knot in your stomach...if this persists, or you have feelings of deep discomfort then i would call my doctor or go to labor and delivery and be checked out...the first child usually takes a while to dialate to 10....but you need to be in the hospital way before you get dialated that far into the process....sometimes your water will break first too and then you know you are in labor too..

Yes, and time the cramps if they are 5 min and less apart get ready! It's time to go. Braxton hicks are also cramp like but not on rhtyhm more like 8min 3min 4min 7min. Real labor has a rhythm to the cramps and usually are spaced between 5 min and less. Blessings and safe delivery for mom and baby.

That is very dependent on how bad a woman's menstural cramps are.
My mom had pains like that and she ended up having to have a c section because she just wasn't going into labour.
My friend gave birth last week and she didn't have much pain. But it is said that women who start maenstrating early like 9 - 12 with bad cramps never have alot of pain when giving birth. Thank God i wont have much!

It feels like menstrual cramps but with pulsing back pains or at least mine did. However, just like every baby, every pregnancy and labor are different. If you feel like you should go to the hospital go, they may send you home but at least you will know for sure. Good Luck with the new baby! : )

Well, since you have no clue what menstrual cramps feel like, it's really hard to give a guy a description. It's the most pain I have ever felt or ever imagined.

For me it felt like I had to have a horrible bowel movement. Sometimes if you have a "back labor" it can kinda feel like menstral cramps or kinda like a kidney infection. Trust me if you are in labor you will know. It is a totally diffrent feeling your whole body will tell you.
