any other people that happen to be in your environment when forming your personality at an early age is one big factor,
these can be parents, siblings, friends, neighbors, teachers, wardens, guards, nannys, orphanage operators, TV personalities, movies, politicians, and yes even books.etc

experiences can also be powerful factor. any events that occur certainly shape you as you must react to cope and survive. if you fall in a lake you may become afraid of water or a very good swimmer that loves water. each person reacts differently to each experience depending in part on genes and other personality factors already mentioned that has influenced you already by the time of the experience, but also will power over cognition. Major events that occur in your awareness at the time such as war or depression or recession or assassination or storms or disasters or accidents and the same for positive events, also are important shaping experiences. Personal experiences in school and work and play and relationships with family and lovers and friends and strangers and peers and superiors and inferiors also have a big influence. Even pre-natal experiences work their magic on your personality.

GENETICS are very important too. your bloodline or genetic material will certaimly play a big part in what and who you are and become by setting certain tendencies or abilities or limits.
Women from a long line of huge russian peasants seldom become ballet stars, for example. Very thin people do not go into sumo wrestling. Some people can sing and some people cannot learn no matter how many lessons they take. You are born with a lot of potential but not infinite in every area. You genes predispose you to develop certain characteristics more or less than others.

You thinking patterns that develop internally can very much affect your personality . Some people are optimistic and some pessimistic. Some outgoing and some introverted. much of this comes from internal dialogue the person generates and controls at first but becomes strong habits. changing your thinking can change your personality. so your free will is a factor in your personality too. Your thoughts may seem involuntary but believing them or paying attention to them is not. you may select which ones to salute in the passing parade and which ones to throw rotten tomatoes at. Life is choices. your thoughts are not visitors from outer space. neither are you feelings that sten from your thought choices. this is where you can exercise the most control with conscious effort vis a vis your personality.

You choices in behavior and goals and paths set you up for certain of the above factors. so do not leave out the influence of free will. it helps shape habits because behavior reinforces behavior, especially if it produces any immediate gratification.
This is where drugs and tobacco and booze and so forth plays a major role in what you become. avoid bad choices.
people who dream big and make a plan and work their plan for a high accomplishment are less likely to make bad choices because they intend a particular result. AIM HIGH

Its all in the hands of the parents, Allowing the child to explore and helping the child to made his decisions. Usually parents live their lives through their children, what they did not get in life they want to fill in that gap by giving it to their children, when actually thats not what children want. Dumping all the gabbage of their forefathers is another mistake,
It is important that parents recogonize the uniquness of their children, and developing self expression, children need to be appreciated and help to compete for themselves and not with others. this is surely bad for the expression of their true self. Giving them freedom and being a good friend to the child is the best thing for the formation of a wonderful personality.

How you are treated by peers as a child when you don't know any better. Observation of your parents' interactions as an idea of how to treat people. Whether or not you have to earn things as a child or if they are handed to you on a silver platter.
