Because they are blinded by party loyalty and have forgotten they are Americans first.

First of all, Foley was not a pedophile. He was sick, yes, and what he did was wrong, but he was not a pedophile. Pedophiles go after prepubescent children, not teenagers over the age of sixteen.
The surveillance was not a lie, it was a secret. It should have STAYED a secret. It was a great weapon against terrorism. It is how many terrorist plots against the US were foiled.
As far as the war, that has not been proven to be an outright lie either.
I would continue, but why bother?
Keep in mind, the Democrats not only voted for the war, they seemed to "know", according to the intelligence reports, that Iraq had WMDs. So I guess according to your standards, they "lied" as well.

Republicans and Democrats are like gangs they dont care if thier party is wrong they will back them no matter what. They dont care about anyone but themselves its ridiculous. It is stupid to vote for a certain congressman or president or anything just because they are in the same political group. Chris Rock said it best ..."Anyone who makes up thier mind before they hit an issue is a fool".

There is no proof anyone lied about the war. Liberal claptrap at best. A simple review of the statements made by leading Democrats before Mr. Bush was president regarding Iraq shows this. The intelligence may indeed have been incorrect, but everyone saw the same intelligence and arrived at the same conclusions. Therefore if you wish to place blame on the intelligence agencies this would be proper. Further, no president can wage war without funding and Democrats have overwhelming voted to continue to fund the war the same as Republicans. In short, actions speak louder than words.
No one has lied about the domestic surveillance program that I am aware of. No one has denied it existed and no one has shown it has been used improperly. If you wish to challenge the program on the basis that it violates the rights of people this would be proper.
No one has been shown to have lied about the Foley affair to date and the investigation is ongoing. There are legitimate questions about who knew what and when they knew it. Any Republican in the leadership who knew about this problem and is shown to have acted improperly in the matter should resign or be censured for their actions. However, we are a country which is supposed to believe innocent until proven guilty. I for one am willing to wait for the completion of the investigation before passing judgement.
Liberals love to indict Republicans using terms like liar, pedophile and culture of corruption, but never take their own to task for bad behavior. Bill Clinton lied to the American people and under oath. Even though this is a major credibility issues, liberals tell us it is minor and none of our business. Harry Reid has possibly committed a major ethics violation in his land deal and subsequent favorable votes he rendered in matters before the Senate regarding it which he should have abstained from, but there is no call for justice from liberals. The list goes on and on.
I am not a Republican, but rather an independent and I am sick of the hypocrisy. This includes Republicans as well as Democrats. However, I find the Democrat hypocrisy more offensive. Republican voters are demanding that proper action be taken in matters like the Foley incident, but we are not getting the same from Democrats. The answer as to why people will continue to vote for Republicans is because the base shows more equality in demanding justice and accountability in general.

Because people vote for what's best for them in their neighborhood. If congressmen & senators were voted for in a national election, they probably would lose but they are voted for in local elections. Unless they really screw their own people they stand a good chance of being re-elected.
