It was canned because it didn't do very well ratings wise. He couldn't hold a series himself without the rest if the Friends.

are you serious? John Ritter died in september of 2003 "We discussed every option, but quite honestly, we very quickly dismissed the notion of recasting John," Braun says. "It didn't feel right on any level. He's irreplaceable, and we know that." The fact that Ritter was so central to "8 Simple Rules" led the writters first to think about ending the show's run. "But the more we talked about it, and the more we talked and the more we saw the impact of his death, not just on our family but on families across the country, [we realized] that there was another way to go here." "8 Simple Rules" took an honest look at how families are affected by the death of a loved one. If that makes the show out of the traditional sitcom mode for a while, so be it.

They canceled the show on May 15, 2006. Where were you?
If you watched season 1, then you still have 22 episodes to watch in season 2, but that's about it. Sorry.

I guess it got cancelled. I'm not surprised though, I mean, yes Joey was my favourite character, but that show was nothing compared to Friends, it was all six of them that made it funny. I think it went down the drain because the dude who played Michael got a contract on another (better) TV series.

There was a season two in the US, but it's ratings weren't good, so it got cancelled. Where I live in Canada, the season was only on at midnight, and although I don't know if it was the same elsewhere, I'm guessing that it lost several viewers.

It was cancelled, last year, not enough viewers. The Friends fans weren't that interested in only watching one person from the show.

I think it got canned, but i could be wrong... but seriously, did any1 REALLY think it would be as good as Friends? every1 only watched it, because they hoped there would be some news about the other Friends, 'cause otherwise it was pretty boring.

The show did get canceled. I'm not sure why or whatever, but I'm assuming that it's cuz it didn't get high ratings.
