English, just like any other language, needs two way communication order to improve, just by listening alone will not improve your english, be not be afraid to speak to other people in english, maybe you're shy or afraid that people may laugh at you or maybe you may not pronounce the words correctly, one way is to read simple english books or newspaper aloud to yourself. i am learning the chinese (putonghua) sometimes when i speak or use the wrong words, people correct me , this is one way of learning

hi,
there are many ways to improve listening English...
Best and easiest way :
Go to near by stores get english movies which has subtitle in it.
You first listen to the dialogue and write down wat u understood then check with the subtitle....
By time , if u r a quick learner, with in a month u can master ur listening skill.
Three points to notice:
->Don't over strain yourself
->practice regularly say 4-5 hours a day
->Last but not the least concentrate on the language not on the movie !!:-))

It depends a lot on how far along you are. If you're pretty far along, sometimes just watching television can be helpful (and fun). If you're just starting out, or if you're out of practice, that can just get really frustrating really quickly though. Children's television can be a good place to start if you just want to get the practice in, in addition to the other excellent suggestions here.

watch television or movies. Sometimes with movies you can get a script on the internet, or watch them "close captioned" which means the words are on the bottom of the screen.
Conversations are good too, if you have English speakers for friends.
