Law in Britain is that your employer does not have to pay you for the first three days off sick in any place you work however longer than three days then they do have to pay and you will also need a sick note. Most places will let you have 7 days self certificate but after 7 days you have to provide a sick note.
Your contract is if you are off work longer than the 3 days that is how they will get out of it.Your emmployer can not just change the goal post without letting you all know it is against the law.
So I would go and see your employer.

at this moment in time your statutory sick pay states that you don't get paid for the first three days of sickness anyway so you do not get anything for having 2 days off,
if you are ill and have a week off then you are still under your own steam to supply a self certification of sickness to your employer to get a weeks sick pay minus the first three days,
if you are on long term sickness IE a month then you will be entitled to one months pay also minus the first three days,
this rule was brought into effect to stop the week-end shirkers that have a couple of extra days from taking advantage of the sick pay that the firms had to pay under government guidelines, and like everything else in this world it is the genuine sufferers that have to pay.

In Britain your employer doest have to pay you for the first 3 days your off sick.
The only thing he must legally pay you is statatory sick pay which comes into effect after the first 3 days.

Vaiakich,
It sounds like your boss is trying to hose you. You need to contact your HR department and if you get the same story then you may have to get legal advice. There is a lot of fine print in most all contracts, so it's very possible you may need to read it and find out for yourself.

call him out on it, they will try to get away with these things, but employment legislation requires all changes to pay etc to be ran by the employees and if you are being paid less for the month coming you have to sign to say you agree to it!
