Here is what to expect from the Consular Office:

Hello, good morning, Welcome to the American Embassy.
Did you have to wait long this morning? How was traffic?
(The first goal is to make you comfortable by asking easy questions.)

So, tell me why you want to study in the United States?
They will then dive into the specifics of your program..

How long do you intend to stay in America?
Why did you pick XXX University?

Where do you study now?

Do you plan to work in America?
Who will pay for your program?
Do you have relatives / friends in America?
Have you ever been to America?
Where will you stay in America?

The Consular Officer will be basically ask you the same questions that are on the DS-156.
