Basically you can't, you can convert from 32 to NTFS but not your way. The only way is to copy your present stuff and reformat but as the Windows install disk formats to NTFS you will have to use software such as provided by your HDD manufacturer, or fdisk or even an format using an old copy of Win'98.

Personally I run a dual OS system (XP & Suse) and 3 partitions. 1 that is NTFS for the XP system only, 2 for all data from both OSs formatted in FAT32, and 3 for Suse.

How large you make each partitition depends on how many programmes you are going to be installing for each OS, my suggestion would be 60-80Gb for XP, 20-40Gb for Suse and the rest as a data drive which could well be a seperated HDD.

There is no clean or easy way of doing this.Microsoft wants to move people away from it. NTFS is superior to FAT32 in almost every way, and there is no compelling reason for users to use it anymore.your options boil down to doing one of two things: reformatting the drive or partition (which results in the data being destroyed) or shelling out for a third-party program. Unfortunately, Windows does not have a built-in tool to convert backwards, like one can to convert from FAT/FAT32 to NTFS. Enter Partition Magic. Partition Magic allows you to convert an NTFS partition back to FAT32

You can't. A FAT32 partition can be converted to NTFS, but it's a one-way conversion.

Why would you want to do that anyway? NTFS is FAR superior to FAT32. It uses smaller clusters, is highly resilient, and is highly secure if properly configured. On partitions over 2GB it is also quite a bit faster.

If you insist on FAT32, you must repartition your drive and reinstall Windows and select FAT32 as the file system type during installation.

ntfs is more stable and secure than fat32. when using fat32, the bigger your hard disk size the slower it will be, that is not the case in ntfs. there are a few other advantage in using ntfs. to convert it you have to repartition your hard disk and format it with fat32. if your hard drive are too big, you have to create a multiple partition of 40gb or below to enable fat32. why don't you use ntfs, i personally recommend it.

Greetings!

Converting NTFS to Fat or Fat 32, requires formatting the hard drive. Of course you realize this will erase the drive. Thus you must have and be prepared to reload existing programs and or data.

Good Luck

I don't think that WindowsXP can format your HDD with " fat 32 ", i think that XP can only format with "NTFS".

Try WindowsNT, But Is safer & faster the "NTFS" format.
Why you want to do something like that? For Games?...
