Small talk is an excellent way to get a conversation started and can give you an advantage on the social scene. Are you good at it?

You don't have to be good at small talk...you just have to be good at asking questions...People LOVE to talk about themselves..asking them questions and being interested in their answers,...getting them to talk about themselves is the best way to make them THINK you are good at carrying a conversation...most of them dont realize they did all the talking..lol

Not to brag, but yes, I am very good at small talk. I think the key is to look around you and inside your mind. There are so MANY things to talk about. Ask questions, tell a story about yourself, relate something to the situation you are in. I can talk to most any person. If they are hesitant to talk back to me it makes it even more exciting to try to get the person to respond to me. I talk to all people whether they are a "plain Jane" or they have tattoo's and piercings all over their face! It makes life exciting. Those people are just looking for attention.

I want a bombast, flamboyant conversation, one that outranks everyone else's' at the lunch table! The entire room will turn towards us in awe and wonder as they hear some of the greatest orators of their day make grandiose speeches of lofty things and lowly problems. We'll captivate their interest, seize their thoughts and leave them stunned.

i tried it once... you have to use the oldest ways in the book... and still don't look disperate to talk. you should also be at your best image... do not approach anyone just because they are there.
