Actually there is something you can do that does not involve violence. Call the city and give them your address. Tell them the street lamp is much too bright and needs to be shut down or removed. They have special bulbs that can be used in residential areas because this is a problem for some people. If you notice that driving down an industrial street the lam[s are bright but in neighborhoods it is much darker? Not because there are less lamps it's because of the bulb.
I know this works because I have had to do it! You may have to call a few times but eventually they get the point and fix it!

get dark curtains. there are curtains that block light...they're thicker and come in dark shades. Other than that, you could sleep with a mask on. I used to have the same problem before I moved. Good luck!

If you are in the City Limits contact the city. If you are outside of the city limits contact the county officials. They should be able to put a shield on it or a dimmer bulb.

No but I have a neighbour who has a light shining directly at my place...drives me crazy.

shoot it out with a pellet gun or use darker shades
