Does your mouse have a ball under it? If so clean it off real good.

If it's an optical mouse, try using a mouse mat or something. If it's a 'mechanical' mouse, take out the little ball and clean it, and use a little plastic scraper to clean the wheels inside. There's probably a rubbery stuff on it. This usually makes a mouse resond badly and removing it does the trick.

If the curser is going exactly opposite to the direction you move it, you need to unplug the mouse and turn the plug upside down before re-inserting it.
