My answer to Jay Kays question about How to control Arms Dealing has been removed. Do you thinks it's because I mentioned the biggest arms deal in the world which involved the British Government? Does Tony Blair have somebody sitting there all day scanning questions and answers on Yahoo?

1) I didn't swear
2) Wrote about Wafic Said. He was named as the agent in the £20 billion Al-Yamamah contract between Britain and Saudi Arabia but denies being an arms dealer. He was named in the House of Commons in 1993 as a contributor to Conservative Party funds.
3) BRITAIN under Tony Blair has overtaken the United States as the biggest supplier of arms to Third World countries, with total weapons sales to developing nations of £2 billion in 2002.
The amount Britain earns from arms sales now almost matches the annual average of £3.3bn in UK aid to developing countries. In total, Britain earned £2.8bn from arms sales overseas last year.
4) SEVENTEEN British companies supplied Iraq with nuclear, biological, chemical, rocket and conventional weapons technology.
5) I am entitled to Freedom of Speech. This is what is supposed to make this country (UK) great.

i don't know but the word democracy seems to have changed its meaning over the last 30 years. I think it is beginning to sound more like dictatorship! We are not given all the facts about anything, infact I think we are lied to more than anything. We shouldn't be selling arm to anyone. But in answer to your question yes I think we are being watched. I've had several replies removed for no reason other than speaking out against our gouvement and the Americans! There is revolution in the air my freinds and big brother don't like it! lol

I had a question about Blair removed for "chatting". I asked at the time of Labour's 2006 conference whether it was how or when Blair went that mattered. Before it was removed it generated some interesting, and differing, answers that made me think. I asked Yahoo for an explanation of their removal of the question and am still waiting for an adequate answer. So I suspect the answer to (each of) your questions is "yes".
I still answer questions on Yahoo, because I hope it helps ordinary people, but I no longer ask them.
Does your question arise from the front-page report in today's "Independent" about "Martyrs of the Web", and the Amnesty International campaign it relates to? I hope people will read this article.
Issues about British Government censorship of the web need to be taken in proportion given an accusation in "The Independent" that Yahoo has sent data to a foreign government on the basis of which people have been gaoled for expressing their opinions. Other internet providers are similarly criticised.
A lot of questions about use of the Interet for blogging and for services such as Answers have not yet been adequately addressed. On the one hand it is of great importance that people should have freedom of expression, within limits such as that they should not advocate violence. On the other hand I have some worries that people comment on the internal affairs of countries that do not concern them and that this could distort democracy. I also have concerns that on an international website ordinary people might have great practical difficulty in getting legal redress if necessary e.g. in the event of slander or libel. At the moment Yahoo and similar firms have set up the rules of the Internet commercially but there are issues about their accountablity within international human rights and of needs to operate within the law of the countries where their services are available. Public debate on this would be a good thing as when you look at the problem carefully the anwers are not as obvious as they are at first sight.
As a last comment, Blair's concentration on media management has reached the point where it is counterproductive and damages his image, as does his desperation to ingratiate himself with powerful foreign leaders. Are Yahoo and other providers going the same way? I was brought up in the belief that it pays only to do business when this is possible in accordance with your principles. If Yahoo users feel they are being monitiored on behalf of big brother governments, I suspect use of Yahoo services will be less than it would otherwise.

I cannot imagine any way in which the British Government has Yahoo under its thumb. Contact Yahoo and ask why your answer was removed.
As for the comments about arms deal, yes Britain did take part in one of the biggest arms deals in the world, but I find it amazing that people are automatically linking arms deals with genocide and as a bad thing. Would you people not have supported selling arms to the African National Congress when they were trying to overthrow Apartheid? Would you not support arms sales to the people of Burma trying to overthrow a military dictatorship? Would you not support arms sales to small nations whose very existence is threatened by larger neighbours? Israel, for all its faults, has a right to exist, and is surrounded by countries that do not recognise that right; therefore it is only correct that it should have the means to defend itself from any hostile action.
And finally, if you think that the Government has nothing better to do with its time than sit around reading Yahoo Answers you are even dumber than your question suggests!

No. But I do hope they will scan and monitor which shows
that they do care for the nation's interests. What's the
big deal over arms deals, every country is doing it. The
problem is in my opinion, arms going to the terrorists.

WE ARE NOT THE BIGGEST we only supply a percentage of the arms the US and germany have comparable arms industries, so your answer obviously was not true, but the final nail in your coffin was yours was not an answer to a simple question.
and i do not believe they have anybody monitoring a site with such juvenile and inept questions. LF
