I am an Aquarius, and since this is an air sign, the other air and fire signs will be the best for me to deal with (ie Aquarius, Gemini, Libra, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius).
Likewise, all Air and Fire signs get along pretty great with each other as they understand each other's view of the world. Similarly, all Water and Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) will get along well with each other.
This is the general idea. There really is nobody who can possibly get along with absolutely everybody :)
Still, if you need a sign choice, go for Aquarius. Aquas view everyone as equals and are always fair and friendly. They get along with pretty much everybody and has a live-and-let-live attitude. Just look around and you will see that it is the Aqua who has all the friends, everywhere!!

Juliet.....it helps if your sign is??? there is no "best" zodiac sign ! There is a difference between the most compassionate /volatile/agreeable /stubborn etc:
Within each star sign there is a high and low (best/worst) of that sign - as for dealing with a sign, mate, deal with a person first, worry about the zodiac sign they have later, and then only if the sh*t hits the fan, and for your own "feel good" benefit that your star signs clashed!

I'm torn with Taurus. For some reason I am drawn to them...and always make friends with Taurus. My current boyfriend is a Taurus and it's an excellent relationship. Yet all my friendships with Taurus women have ended--badly. They just cannot accept change (and I love to change...) but yet I'm drawn to them, and them to me. Its very weird actually...sort of a love/hate relationship.

any of the mutable signs (gemini, saggitarius, virgo, pisces) or anyone with a heavy mutable chart. would generally be adaptable and easy to get along with. because they arent impulsive like the cardinal signs or bull-headed like the fixed signs.

CANCER i am one and 'd have to say i have many diffrent friends: Gemini, Aquarius, sagittarious, virgo,
but i personally think that we all have our diffretn attitudes nad u cant just look at the overall
