We are all used to it now I guess......and an extra hour's sleep is always a winner.
Certainly having longer evenings in the Summer is something that we must all enjoy.....it is just a question whether we should keep those hours all year round or not. Historically I think it was for school children - ie so that they had the most light in both the morning and evening when coming to and from school.
Given the ridiculous 'school run' now - when no kids walk alone to school anymore [ridiculous in that parents rightly are unable to trust the general public and the weirdos contained therein] - I doubt any kids walk to school at a young age so maybe it is time to move on.
Enjoy the extra hours' sleep anyway!

Well alot of workers will go back into the winter depression stage (in the UK at least). This is when work really sucks cos its darker on a morning and you SOOOOOO dont wanna get out of bed. Its amazing how our mood revolves around what the weather is like or how dark the sky looks! But asides from that, big up the extra hour in bed :D

In theory an advantage is that as it gets darker in winter the time adapts (so lets say; you can go home from work while there is still light). With global warming and the erratic weather in the UK I don't find it of great use.
I wonder what time it would be now, if they clocks had never changed at all for some years.

well i had practice run last weekend!
I was convinced all last week that it was last sat/sun that the clocks went back. Changed them all before i went to bed on sat night, got up sun morning turned pc on and wondered why time hadnt automatically updated. Then my boyfriend told me its this coming weekend!!! What an idiot i felt!!!
Good thing about clocks going back is that we get an extra hour this weekend away from work!!!!! lol

I actually love it. I hate summer time because it totally throws my internal clock out the proverbial window. And you sleep an hour more with sun time - I'm a cat person.

At the turn of the Millenium they considered ADDING half an hour permenantly and then NEVER adding or taking anything ever again. Afterall if Greenwich Mean Time had been set during the Spring or Autumn/Fall the 'Half Hour' idea would not have been necessary and we wouldn't be adding an hour in the Summer.

Last time they did I missed a TV program and I forget to change the clocks and that messes up the timers to tape TV programs so end up missing about a month of TV.

This makes no difference and I dont care at all because one day our clocks would run out of battery and we'd have to change the time anyway.

I just asked this question also. I love it - the winter nights drawing in making the home cosy and warm and Christmas coming. The spring evenings getting lighter, going out for walks and summer is on its way.

It was done for the farmers so that they got an extra hour in summer where it was still daylight.
Overall it makes no difference these days, they might as well just scrap it. No other country does it as far as I know.
