An integer is a whole number. If seven is the greater of two consecutive integers (whole numbers) then six must be the smaller. Six, Seven and Eight are all consecutive whole numbers (Six is the smallest Eight is the largest).

I assume your asking what is half of the smaller of the consecutive integers (six), which would of course be three.

larger no=2x+7

larger no-smaller no=1
2x+7-x=1
x+7=1
x= -6
so the two consecutive nos are -6 & 2(-6)+7
so they are -6 & -5

2x + 7 = x+1
2x = x + 1 -7
2x = x -6
2x - x = -6
