We had NTL and it kept freezing on us too so we put it in writing and gave them notice that we wanted to cancel it(our minimum contract was up) We changed to Sky but got 2 more bills from NTL which we didn't owe but were told that we'd have to pay them as they hadn't received our letter.
Customer services said that they'd had a number of complaints regarding this but that we just had to pay the bills as our credit rating would be affected.
We paid the bills as we couldn't prove that we'd sent the letter but I would never recommend NTL to anyone.
It's disgusting that companies can get away with charging customers for money that they don't owe.

NTL are absolutely ridiculous as a company. It is unbelievable. They don't care if you have no service and there customer support is atrocious, one thing I have out with them many times.
They really need to do something to sort this out.
We ha dno telly in our house for two full days last week,
This question has got me riled against NTL again aaaagh!
We should move to sky

They started taking someone else's astronomical phone bills out of my bank account and I had hassle from both NTL and my bank trying to get my money back; despite the so called direct debit guarantee. The account number wasn't even anywhere near mine, neither was the name.Their bills were 10 times mine!

You're best bet is to switch companies. I had broadband with ntl and only ever got connected on average 1 in 20 tries!!! When you ring their number they say there are technical difficulties in your post code area, don't even bother with them mate. Cancel now!!!

Yep - both as a customer and when I used to work for them.

Run now while you still can. They couldn't give a t*ss about any of their customers and they're not remotely interested in helping resolve whatever your problem is.

It just ain't worth the energy fighting them - it's like punching a pillow.
