Q1:A wholesaler has 315 containters of water, he distributes the containters equally amongst 7 shops. If each container holds 4 litres of water, how many litres dose each shop get?

Q2 A tanker can hold 3500L petrol. The petrol is then pumped into containers each holding 5L. How many containers would be needed if 70L of petrol has leaked out of the tanker?

Q3. A fish tank is a quater full of water. If 3300 ml is needed to fill the tank, find the capacity of the tank.

I know im stupid for not knowing this just that i suck at maths.

Answer 1:
No. of containers = 315
No. of shops = 7
No. of containers per shop = 315/7 = 45
No. of litres in each container = 4
No. of litres in each shop = 45*4 = 180
Each shop gets 180 litres

Answer 2:
Amount of petrol = 3500L
Amount of petrol leaked = 70 L
Amount left = 3500-70
= 3430L
Capacity of each container = 5L
No. of containers required = 3430/5 = 686
686 containers are required

Answer 3:
The tank is quarter full. Let the tank's capacity be 'x'
3300ml = 3x/4
3x/4 = 3300
3x = 13200
x = 13200/3
x = 4400
The tank's capacity is 4400ml = 4.4 litres

I hope that helped you

q1) each shop gets 315/7 containers=45
each container has 4 liters so each shop has 4*45 liters=180liters

q2) there is 3500-70 liters that needs to be stored=3430

each tank takes 5 liters therfore you need 3430/5 canisters=686 tanks

q3) If the tank is a quarter full, its 1-(1/4) empty. which equals 3/4
3300ml is needed to fill three quarters so 3300=3/4 of total capacity.
therefore let capacity equal x

3300=3/4 x
3300*4/3=x to get rid of the fraction you multiply each side by four and divide by three.
4400=x

Divide 315 by 7
45
multiply 45 by 4
180

subtract 70 from 3500
3430
divide 3430 by 5
686

3300 equals 75 percent (three quarters, the remaining capacity of the tank) of the tank's full capacity. So set up an algebraic equation.
3300 = (0.75)*(x)
(x) is the full capacity of the tank.
Divide both sides of the equation by 0.75 to get 'x' by itself.
4400 = x
The capacity of the tank is 4400 ml

Don't forget your units. Teachers hate when you forget your units (litres, L, ml, etc.).

1. 315/7=45*4=180
2.3500-70=3430/5=686
3.3300=3/4
3300*4/3=4400
