It was a group of people. Thomas Payne helped to get people behind the Revolution with his pamphlet "Common Sense". Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. Hamilton and Madison helped get holdout states to ratify the Constitution by writing "The Federalist Papers". Washington helped to establish the country in two ways, his service as the Commander in Chief of the Colonial Revolutionary Army and by not seeking a 3rd term as President (also by having his successor and his successor's Vice President lead the procession during their inauguration). Franklin raised funds and military help (mainly from France). This is only a sample.
Nothing big is the result of a single person. If you want a complete list look at the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, the people who signed them were major players.

Well, Christopher Columbus is the first "official" European founder of the American continent - but coins from Viking voyages have been found as far North on the Mississippi River as St. Paul, MN - dating back to the 1100s.
But, your question is, who is the original founder of the USA - the United States of America. With respect to Chirstopher Columbus, the Vikings, and tribes that crossed the Bearing Strait several thousand years ago into North America - they didn't know that this land would become the United States.
I would have to say that credit for founding the USA as a nation would go to the revolutionaries who fought Britain for independence - Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, John Hancock - those guys - and there are many more.
I hope this answers your question.

While the land had been there for thousands of years, the USA was not "founded" until the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. On June 11, 1776, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert R. Livingston, and Roger Sherman were instructed to draft such a declaration; the actual writing was entrusted to Jefferson. The first draft was revised by Franklin, Adams, and Jefferson before it was sent to Congress, where it was again changed. That final draft was adopted July 4, 1776, and Independence Day has been the chief American patriotic holiday ever since.
So, in answer to the question, who was the original founder of the USA, I would say Thomas Jefferson and the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

There were a group of men who made the United States what it is today. They were Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton and many, many more, we call them our founding Fathers. They helped to formulate the plans for an experimental democracy and put those plans into effect by writing the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They led the newly formed government with pride and dignity.
As for actually discovering the land - that credit must go to a bunch of Asian nomads who walked over from Siberia thousands of years ago. We don't know their names but we do know generally where they migrated from. The first Europeans who came over were probably Scandinavian explorers but that is debatable as they left very little evidence or documentation. Christopher Columbus arrived around 1492 and he is credited in most history books with the "discovery". His voyage paved the way for many other explorations and spawned an age of European colonization and expansionism.

do you mean who first "found" the americas on which the United States later settled? well, the Native Americans first found it. Then the Norse, Leif Ericson was actually here before Columbus.

trick question? haha native indians come on man illegal immigrants came from england and raped and slaughtered all the natives. basically stealing everything they could. many years later they stole from mexico too. And they brought with them africans so they wouldnt have to lift a finger at home and sit and watch africans kill themselves in the blazing sun in the corn fields.
America cares about liberating Iraq??? spending millions and millions of dollars over seas when they are shoving out mexican people and forcing them to start over in mexico which has NO jobs no government help. This type of hypocracy is what this nation is about. Its all about whats in it for the white man.

Need you ask? It was co-founded by the three "Founding Uncles", as they are now known: Uncle Sam, Uncle Scrooge McDuck, and Uncle Pennybags (who was later honoured on the monopoly board). Don't they teach kids anything in schools these days?
