Hiding In Plain Sight is the most recent book from security expert Eric Cole. Eric Cole is also the author of Hackers Beware and one of the primary authors of GIAC Certification: Security Essentials Toolkit (GSEC).
Eric spent more than five years working with information security for the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) where he led a team in desiging and deploying secure communications systems.
He helped to develop some of the SANS GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification) exams and the corresponding SANS courses. He continues to work in information security as the Chief Scientist for The Sytex Group's Information Warfare Center and he has appeared on 60 Minutes, CBS News and CNN.
Why am I telling you this? Because Eric himself uses
ZoneAlarm from http://www.zonelabs.com
So I strongly urge you to use Zone Alarm. Or if you'd invest some money then buy Check Point Safe@Office 500 Unified Threat Management appliance from http://www.checkpoint.com/products/safe@office/index.html

If you're running Windows XP, you already have a free firewall. To my knowledge, it's never been breached.
If you're looking for a firewall appliance, check out IPCop at http://www.ipcop.org

For good, free and recommended security programs, please go here
http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat...
I recommend AVG as an anti virus, although eTrust's 12 month free trial is excellent (I'm using it and am extremely impressed).
If you need other programs, go for Zone Alarm firewall, AVG anti spyware (formerly Ewido) and SpywareBlaster.
If you click on the names in that list I gave you and it will take you to the official download site.
Please ensure that you keep them all updated for full protection and check for any updates when you first download them.
