Who cares about every breath the stars make. They are only human too. We all live and die.

Seems we should concentrate a little more on making the world a better place than chasing the stars around with cameras.

This post was my response to Yahoo's "Celebs in your inbox"

This kind of hype about Celebrities irritates me. I guess to be fair this question should probably be targeted at those who seem to consider themselves "Celeb Experts." For one thing I don't care what Joe Schmo has to say about the latest styles that Brad Pit or any other celeb is wearing. And for another thing, I'm too busy living my life to wonder what the celebs may or may not seem to think is fashionable.

So then, this ridiculous industry, that is so infatuated with it's own stink, now somehow gets nominated by the rest of the world to be representative of "Americans" by default because that is all they see. So other countries get the impression that the US is a bunch of egotistical conceited pigs.

Like that show about the rich girl brats who get whatever the heck they want from their daddy. Who cares to watch that garbage? All these things confirm to the terrorists that America needs punishment for wickedness.

I agree.. But too many people are interested in it.. Paparazzi are just hanging around celebs waiting for something scandalous to happen in hopes to make money.. And if they catch something bad they bank bigtime. Its just the way things are.. Many people love to watch and hear about rich and famous people doing something wrong. Until people no longer care what other people do, it won't stop.

the career they have chosen makes them aware of cameras in their faces for a good part of their waking lives. Because their photos are important to the press and people who are interested in celebs, they start to want to look a certain way. They hire stylists sometimes, makeup people, hair people. And they eventually get their heads turned around into thinking they must look this way to get work, to get attention that gets them more work, to be noticed by the people who hire them.
And it is an ego driven business. Introverts seldom become celebrities. The ones with the biggest opinions of themselves seem to rise to the top the fastest; thus the Paris Hilton phenonemon.
Unfortunately even the ones who are making it a better word will make sure there are lots and lots of cameras around while they are doing it to show everyone how great they are.
There was a great actress once; Audry Hepburn. She was terrific as an actor. Made you laugh, made you cry, made you think. She became a UN representative; a generally token title; big name attached maybe gets them some more money for the cause. But what she did was stop being Audry Hepburn in a way...quit show business and went to work with the people she represented from the third world. She was beautiful when she was an actress. Perfect makeup, perfect hair, perfect clothing. And then ...once in a while, someone snapped a picture, one in maybe 5 or 6 years, of her in Africa. She had old beat up clothing, her hair just washed and combed, no makeup at all. And she was now stunning. The person she was inside now made her shine. That is real celebrity.

uhhhhhh, first you're saying that celebs are more infatuated with themselves than we are. Then you're implying that we care too much about celebs. What exactly is the point you're trying to make? Is it that celebs think too much of themselves or that we think too much of celebs? I think you're right that we think about celebs too much; but maybe that's the reason why they are infatuated with themselves. They get publicity and attention from millions of people a day, and probably feel like they have to mold themselves to appeal to those people so that they can keep their fanbase and feel good about themselves. This probably makes them self-conscious and unforgiving of their short-comings. With all of us showing them so much attention why wouldn't they be infatuated with themselves? And for your last sentence, what are you doing to make the world a better place? Seems you could concentrate more on making a difference than bad-mouthing celebs and the Paparazzi on Yahoo! Answers.

Celebs are constantly surrounded by people (their entourage, wannabe's, etc) telling them how fabulous they are. Their heads swell up and they start to believe all of the b.s. Then of course you have people obsessed with the celeb mags, their fashion sense, they way they dress, etc. Of course they're human but after a while they start to believe they are better than everybody else..even those who claim to be "grounded" start to believe their own hype.

Of course the world would be a better place without our celeb hungry culture but I don't see it ending anytime soon.

It doesn't seem that they are more infatuated with themselves! They ARE more in fatuated with themselves! Personally, I could care less about them. If I hear about Angelina Jo, whatever her name is, one more time, I think I'm gonna puke! I have much better things to do. These radical left wing movie stars live in a fantasy world and have no clue as to what is is like to live in the real world.

If people didn't buy magazines about "celebrities" they would be a lot less infatuated with themselves. They are worth a fortune to mags. and newspapers , just look at the stands in newsagents. It's not their fault.
