Probably Circle #1, Limbo, virtuous pagans. That is where all the Ancient icons would be like Socrates and such. It sounds a bit drab but certainly better than being boiled alive.

Are you sure that Limbo is First Circle?
I was sure that Limbo is just before you enter Hell.
And poets and writers are there as well (do not deserve Heaven, but do not deserve Hell), so that is place for me.
