We were together years ago, and kept in touch since.
We both got out of bad relationships over a year ago.
We have been seeing each other for the past year. I have always been in love with him, a fact that has been mentioned to me over the years by others.
He's good to me, considerate, thoughtful, etc. I find myself very lucky to be with someone I've known for 25 yrs or so, and truly enjoy being with him.
However, he says he loves me, but is not in love with me.
He's Capricorn, I'm Virgo. Am I setting myself up for heartache?
Any thoughts?

My thoughts are You have been very fortunate to have a friend for so long that you both truly enjoy one another.
Why can't it just remain that way?? Gosh, there are sooooo many kinds and ways of love.
I really don't understand how you are 'feeling' you are setting your self up for heartache? You have a true friend of 25 years, who
loves you! You love him!
Just be happy for the relationship you have you are very fortunate and so is he.
Don't complicate it.

I think being in love with someone means that the chemistry between them makes everything seem easy to the point of seeming like you are close to heaven. He lifts you to heaven but you do not seem to lift him to that level. But capricorns (the goat) like keeping their feet on the ground. They have to be sure footed. I would immagine especially so after a bad relationship. And coming from that, his first step would be to love you and get a very secure foundation in that. The next would be to be in love with you.
But of course it's possible the chemistry will never be right for him to be in love with you. You were together but both of you went into different relationships. That means that the relationship you shared before was not solid enough to stop other love relationships forming. Not a good thing. But, maybe he has learned that being in love is not a safe thing and he would prefer to just love. Many people would be very happy with that. The question is - would he? Anyway, I think you are both mature enough to persue it. Start hanging out together again. Remember - its step by step for capricorns.

Serioulsy i think zodiac signs have nothing to do with a person. im a Leo and and am totally oppostise of what they say a leo should act like. People change. so feelings can change. If he says he is not in love with you avoid it. Its not worth the heart ache if his feelings never change. Find someone who will be inn love with you.

To get someone in love with you is easy, if you make an effort, so that's not a problem. You just have to trick the guy into releasing a lot of endorphins.
This happens when YOU act happy and excited. To get someone to love you is trickier, but that's not a problem in your case. This just means that he feels a bit bored with you, so you have to excite him somehow. Be unpredictable.
