Jake and the Fatman ran from1987-1992 and starred William Conrad as Jason "Fatman" McCabe and Joe Penny as Jake Styles. It was one of the best TV crime dramas, and surely on top of the list during the late 1980's. I would say it lines up nicely with the great TV crime series like The Streets of San Francisco, Cannon, Petrocelli, Vegas, and Miami Vice - all quite different and individual, but all classic.

William Conrad is one of my favorite actors. He was the voice of Matt Dillon when Gunsmoke was on the radio but wasn't given the TV role because the producers thought he was too short.

Absolutely brilliant show! I even visited the statue where they meet at the front of the show when we were on holiday in Hawaii last year and had my photo taken at the same spot!
