Braxton Hicks contractions can begin as early as the second trimester, however they are most common in the third trimester. The muscles of your uterus tighten for approximately 30 to 60 seconds or as long as 2 minutes. Braxton Hicks are also called “practice contractions” because they will prepare you for the real thing and you can practice the breathing exercises you are learning in your childbirth classes ...
See the link below for the rest of this answer ... good luck to you and don't worry, I've had 6 children with BH following me along and all of them were just fine, yours will be as well *s*.

Braxton Hicks contractions last for aproximately 30 seconds to 2 minutes and are also known as practice contractions. You could practice breathing exercises to get ready for the real thing. If the contractions fade, do not get stronger or more intense, and do not have a set time between them, then it is Braxton Hicks and you have nothing to worry about.

I felt the muscles in my stomach tighten though BH happened around the 7 month mark for me but not all the time. It was freakish at first as i thought I might have been going into early labour.. It is natural and its the body adjusting and baby is fine.

BH is natural. It doesnt hurt the baby. It gets the uterus ready for the birth. It feels like tightening of the uterus to light cramps. I had two sons I went thru the same thing.

No they dont hurt the baby. It is just a natural reflex that most women experience during pregnancy.
