I like a manager that is friendly but strict when needed. That deals with problems rather than ignore them. One that actually listens to what you are saying when you have a suggestion. I think that firm but fair is a good manager.

well I qould like a manager that is strict and then I would like to have a manager that was lenient because if I had to work with someone that didn't do nothing I would hope that my manager would be like you need to do something around here and that would be like this place is messy you go clean this up or something because I like the places I am at to be clean, I also wish I would have a lenient manager to cause say if i was to be late he or she would be like oh its ok just be on time next time so yeah :)

I prefer a nice boss. My favourite manager, was a very fair and respectful boss. I enjoyed working for him because he didn't powertrip. He treated everyone with respect and I think he never forgot that he was once in our shoes. If he had to discipline someone, he did it behind closed doors, but never raised his voice. I knew what was expected of me at my job, but if he asked me to do something extra, I had so much respect for him that I gladly did my best for him. He was very appreciative of hard work and he never failed to thank you for a job well done. However, since everyone is different, some of my co workers didn't feel he was up to the job because he wasn't demanding enough and not everyone has self discipline. They need someone to keep them in line. I think he got a lot of flack from his 'higher ups', for not running a tight enough ship. Over the years, he seemed to enjoy his job less and less and was eventually demoted. I'll always sing his praises and I hope he is doing well now.
