sli is totally the bomb for gaming and anyone that says it isnt worth it either cant afford it or has never tried it ... BUT ...two nvidia 7800gts' in sli equal about an nvidia 7950 ... soooo the 7950 would be a better deal ... two 7950s' in sli ... totally off the chain ... so anyway dont get the wrong idea, sli increases how fast ur framerates go and the details you can turn up in the game ... its like super-overclocking ur card ... but it doesnt do anything else .. it doesnt give u anything other than the ability to max all the quality settings in ur game if the cards are good enough ... putting to low-end cards in sli wouldnt be better than a single high end card then .... what im saying is the "sli" itself isnt the wonder-drug ... its all about the speed of the cards ... so sli two good ones if you want to win ...

SLI is better, but you will ALWAYS be better off spending the money on one very good high end card instead of two in SLI. For example, if you have $400, you are better off with one $400 card than 2 $200 cards. If you have $500, you are better off with one $500 card than 2 $250 cards. So the only time you should go to SLI is one you have more money to spend than the most expensive card out, like if you have $800 or something like that.

Yes. As time goes on, graphics will need more and more power to churn out the latest hi definition images with particle shading and such.

SLI is stronger than single card play, that is fact. But for now, SLI is not needed to play most games. Eventually, when games get more advanced, and require Direct X10, then would be a good time to consider getting SLI setup.

It depends on the game. Some games do run faster with SLI.Most games donot need Sli to run.You can get an SLI motherboard and use it with just one video card till you really need a second card. Then you just add the card later.
