As someone who has been treated like that all my life, not just at work, but at school also, who do these people think they are. Its none of your bosses business if you apply for 50 million other other jobs. Your boss cant stop you, id continue to apply for other jobs and get out of where your working, because anyone who makes you feel like the way i felt with my boss, GET OUT, AND DONT BE AROUND THEM, if people want to be sad cases all their life let them, you are better than them and dont let anyone tell you otherwise, and final word, what can i say, A WOMEN BOSS? I MIGHT HAVE KNOWN!!!! women need a sence of power to feel important and to be in a male dominated force such as management they need to enforce authority onto people (just like i had from my FEMALE boss) people like her need to keep pushing other people down and making them feel bad just so as they can feel better (they actually have really pathetic sad lives) i have came to learn, be strong in who u are, and dont be around people who make you feel less than what you are worth, thanks. You should not be looking for other work during your job time! This is probably part of the problem. Focus on your job during work hours. Request a meeting with your boss, and ask how you can improve. Even though you don't plan to stay, see what you can learn that will help you succeed in your next job. Try to leave on good terms. If you can stay long enough to earn a positive reference, it will be easier to get another job. Good luck.

Your boss can't stop you from applying for another job! Recruiters won't call her if you apply for a job through them Firstly they have a responsibility of confidentiality to you and secondly if they place you in a good job they will stand to make money out of it!

Go for it look for another job but keep all the info away from your nightmare boss!

Good luck let me know how you get on x

She cannot do that to you! That is bullying and why is she so eager to thwart your plans? (listen to me, I should be stroking a cat whilst using words like that) You need to get out of there and fast, she cannot stop you applying for jobs and going for interviews. If you can, leave now, as she is nothing but a bully but from what you have said, you don't have enough to live on whilst looking for another job. She needs to realise that to keep you a pay rise and some respect for you is needed. I know you are in a vicious circle but hang in there! Keep any confidence you have, don't let her take it all, and keep the thought that one day you will be out of there! good luck x

Your boss is behaving unlawfully. you could just leave and claim constructive dismissal. You have to prove at an employment tribunal that your boss is doing this. There will be a Human Rights Commision set up and hopefully they will provide protection to people who are bullied at work. Although, judging from how other commissions have worked - I'm not that confident. Try to get proof in writing that you are being bullied and mistreated and then get legal advice. It would be nice to be able to sue.

The question is not why is your treating you this way, it is why are you letting your boss treat you this way?

Your getting paid crap and your boss is walking all over you!

You need to work on your self-asstem

She cannot control you, you are your own person, if you want to leave then leave, find a better job and get away from that control freak!

Good Luck!

It sounds want to me he has it out for you. He needs to coach you basically how 'substantial' he's. This guy sounds packed with himself and can be jealous of you or have low self-worth. I agree that the urinals could be wiped sparkling, however the activity could be split up among the emplyees, no longer one and basically one individual to punish them for some incorrect doing, quite messing up an order, how petty is that? look for yet another interest. With a years journey decrease than your belt you are able to desire to in all risk be a supervisor! stay open on your thoughts and do your self a want, get your self far flung from that jerk!!

That's really naughty and your boss has no right to do that to you! I would continue to look for a new job but you should do it outside of work - perhaps you could book a day's annual leave and go round to all the agencies yourself and explain what your boss has done. Good luck - I would get out of there as quickly as possible!

If I were you my letter of resignation would be on her desk on Monday morning. It's outrageous that she's trying to get you blacklisted. Call the agencies and explain why you need to get out of this repressive regime (they will understand because she's obviously off her head - as they will understand because she's spoken to them). You do not live in soviet Russia - you are a free person and entitled to better yourself through your own hard work and intelligence. Get out before it's too late and she crushes your self belief and confidence. Tell her to stick her job where the sun doesn't shine.

wow - your boss is certainly going out of her way to be bullying ...

is there anyone you can talk to about her behaviour?

nobody can stop you applying for a new job, but do it from home (or an Intenet cafe) and not on company time

you can also write letters or phone from home

if you are having trouble doing this, ask a friend or colleague for help
