It will be just the end of the world we know - western culture deteriorates ethical behavior is no longer valuable. Moral principals are not valid anymore...but then all great kingdoms/cultures fell and were replaced by new ones. It all goes in circles - there is no such thing like end of things. Life is a continuous process and it never ends, it is just that maybe we humans will not be here in a million year but I am sure world will do without us pretty well

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocene_extinction_event

Quote:
==========================================
The Holocene extinction event is a name customarily given to the widespread, ongoing mass extinction of species during the modern Holocene epoch. The extinctions vary from mammoths to dodos, to numerous species in the rainforest dying every year. Because the rate of this extinction event appears to be much more rapid than the "Big Five" mass extinctions, it is also known as the Sixth Extinction. Since 1500 AD, 698 extinctions have been documented by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources[1]. However, since most extinctions are likely to go undocumented, scientists estimate that during the last century, between 20,000 and two million species have become extinct, but the precise total cannot be determined more accurately within the limits of present knowledge. Up to 140,000 species per year (based on Species-area theory)[2] may be the present rate of extinction based upon upper bound estimating.

[...]

The observed rate of extinction has accelerated dramatically in the last 50 years, to a pace greater than the rate seen during the Big Five. There is no general agreement on whether to consider more recent extinctions as a distinct event or merely part of a single escalating process. Only during these most recent parts of the extinction have plants also suffered large losses. Overall, the Holocene extinction event is most significantly characterised by the presence of man-made driving factors and its very short geological timescale (tens to thousands of years) compared to most other extinction events.

Yes, indeed, ideas are running out. Somebody suggested let us have only one religion. Someone else said kill Bush. A third person thought God needed to do something to save us.

The fact is we are too small to do anything about it. If the end is to come, it would certainly come. The only consolation is that philosophically speaking, in this universe, no end is an end, it is only a beginning of something else. So, may be the scheme of things is leading to end this troubled world and start a brand new wonderful one.

Dear me, hope is life - where there is life, there is hope!!

And yea verily, the End of the World is nigh!

So sayeth doomsayers for millenia, all convinced that they knew without a doubt that the world was going to end imminently, all able to point to various signs and events as "proof" of their claims.

But here's the kicker. The world is a whole lot bigger than that. We like to think we have a special place in the world, that we are living in unprecedented times, that OUR case for the end of the world is unique and credible. But you'd be wrong on all those counts. The world goes on regardless.

So what's your claim to End Times? Did representatives of your religion of christianity tell you that the world is going to hell in a handbasket, and that Jesus is headed back here on the redeye? Or maybe your religion is environmentalism and you believe that global warming will kill us all, a la Al Gore, "The Day After Tomorrow," and other enviro-propaganda pieces? Or maybe you just see society in a downward slide, just like your parents did--and their parents, and their parents, and theirs. (The youth nowadays--harumph!) Or maybe you've latched on to one of the niche calamities, like an asteroid impact or some 100% lethal global pandemic.

But if you're REALLY convinced that the world is going to end, then go ahead and send me all your money. After all, you won't be needing it, right? The only rule is that I get to keep it, even after the world stubbornly insists on continuing with its existence in contradiction to your prediction.

we will never see the end of the place we humans exist upon. we may see the time when the human species becomes extinct, but this planet will continue its orbit around the amazing sun. my suggestion on stopping(or more like greatly slowing down) our demise is to achieve zero population growth, and negative governmental growth.

All worries are till the bombs ar blasted. When all countries engage in atomic bombing each other there will no life left on earth for worrying about. Since man is too eager to preserve himself he will not dare to start atomic Holocaust

Why do you want to stop the end of the world? It's gonna look awesome.

I'd stop the end of the world by singing it back to life. "Don't be afraid Mother Earth/ I just want to sing you a song/ Come back to us Mother Earth/ I'll be your date for the prom."

Something like that.
