Scientists are saying that the universe is 78 billion light years across. I have often wondered if we could travel that far. Maybe wormholes are possible but no one really knows. If you haven't seen this video on youtube take a look. It will blow your mind.

with our current technology (very primitive), you'd require a very very large spaceship, able to host succeeding generations, to reach anything interesting.
and even so, even with an ion propulsion engine, you wouldn't have enough fuel. So you'd need something else, probably solar/stellar sails. There still have been preciously little experiments with this technology (an ambitious one, from the Planetary Society, failed last year when the Russian missile that was to launch the craft, crashed into the ocean).
anyway, you'd probably find the volunteers pretty easily. You'd need to find the money, and that could be tough - which is a bit paradoxical, because the craft would possibly cost less than the war in Iraq (and be something much more creative and positive).

Quite likely long before the end of the 21st century human minds will be streaming away from the earth in all directions at the speed of light. At that rate we'll have reached every star in the Milky Way in less than 300,000 years. 2.7 million years later we'll reach the Andromeda Galaxy and start exploring it. Chances are we'll meet other intelligences doing the same thing from other advanced civilizations. It will be great!

The problem is if we can survive long enough as a species.
If we can survive our destructiveness and somehow manage to figure a method of travel that is quicker than the speed of light, it is possible.
Not in our lifetime, though. In reality, it might be hundreds of years from now. So don't plan on buying a ticket just yet.

Maybe. If you get close enough to lightspeed time will slow down for you so much you'll be able to go millions of light years in what appears to be only years for you. As long as you don't hit a speck of dust along the way.

yes, we can, but this right now only a theoritical possibility.
for travel through universe, the distance to be traversed is in light years (one light year corresponds to the distance light travels in a year)
if we can somehow be able to breakdown ourselves to the level of photons (light particles) or to even minute dark matter of which the bulk of the universe is made, we can indeed travel to anywhere in the universe.
till then, try apporting - practice of projecting your astral body(biomagnetic form) out of your physical body and send it anywhere in the universe.
third option is to meditate and feel you are there. no kidding-try it!

I doubt it. I don't think our species will last the 10-12 thousand years needed to progress to that stage.
