UK needs USA big time. Over fifty percent of businesses in UK are US owned [Corporate America]. In the 1920s when things were bad here in UK it was US enterprise which built new factories taking on hundreds of thousands of workers.
Go into your supermarket [an American idea by the way] have a look at the food you eat. How much of it is American? Quite a lot more than you may think. Heinz for one.
Down at your hardware store, Stanley Tools and an army of other products, Black and Decker, etc.
Cars - Vauxhall - owned by US giant, General Motors - otherwise it would have gone bust decades ago.
Cars - Ford - USA - the only car manufacturer in the world to have "By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen" - they are ultra discreat about this by the way. Ford also owns, Jaguar and Land Rover - the first new Land Rover came off the production line in USA about a couple of weeks ago - Jeep, eat your heart out.

We need Americans to be like old America. The one where we stood on our shore and didn't care what in the hell was going on overseas. We had a big power full military, but didn't really have to use unless someone picked on us. We would be allot better off if we just sat back, built up our military/defense, and quit giving our damn money to other damn countries. Really we our country is so far damn in debt, and what do we do? we give money, aid, and fight wars in other countries. There is still no other country I would rather live, and most of the world agrees (I have been overseas where everyone talks **** about how they hate us and then they try to get back to America by marring an American). What can I say everyone hates you when you are on top (we are not as on top as we use to be, but we are still the best damn country in the world). Gotta love Ethnocentrism.

Being American, living in America, means that i don't have to again be a martyr in a political game of blantant corruption, I don't have to experience starvation, i don't have to worry again that I'll be descriminated from a job because I'm not "pretty" enough, and I don't have to just blindly accept a job, a standard or unsatisfying life becasue I've been given a chance to do do something that I desire to do. The theory is " democratic nations will not engage in warfare." Eventually if everyones on the same page there will be peace. I'm all for that!

You really are stupid.. if you only ever judge someone by their war fighting ability!! your life is way to shallow.
Iv no idea where you come from, but if you come from Europe you should be thanking your lucky stars that Americans came to fight in Europe and saved us from the dreadful Nazi and Russians.. If you live in Asia you should also thank your lucky stars that Americans fought Japanese and won!..
Perhaps you are thinking about Vietnam, and later gulf wars, and the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.. All of these wars could be won by the Americans alone, if they still waged war in the same way has they did during the second world war!. The nature of war has changed and now soldiers have rules of engagement to follow. That ruthlessness which got the nuclear bomb dropped on japan no longer exists..
There is so much more to America, don't just judge it by its silly politicians

I don't know why we have to share this yahoo answers with them, they are so ill-informed about Britain and the rest of the world. As individuals they are as good (and as bad) as any other nation, but their dismal culture and education system means they can't debate.
They take up too much space in the world (in every sense) indeed they take up too much of everything - remember they are only 5% of the world's population.

Of course we do. America has been a good friend and ally to the UK in particular, and Europe in general. Lest we forget, America sent the flower of it's youth to help us defeat tyranny in Europe. Without America's considerable help, in two World Wars, I doubt we would be enjoying the "freedom of speech" that this forum now encourages. You let yourself down when you ask a question that you have so obviously already decided the answer to.

Be careful what you ask for. Opinion in America is starting to turn more and more to a isolationist mindset. The multi-polar world that so many want, may come to pass. Your security in the future may depend on the tender mercy of Putin, the Chinese Communists, and the sulphur sniffer himself. Best of luck.

Hum, interesting thought when you consider that America helped to rebuild ALL countries nearly wiped out during every war we've been involved in. Every country in Europe owes the USA billions, yet we haven't seen a single cent and don't push for it to be repaid. Don't insult MY country and I won't insult yours, fair enough?
