A laminectomy is a "routine" surgery that has a very high success rate. I've had one myself and was able to walk around within 24 hours of the surgery.

My uncle recently had this surgery. It's very serious. Naturally, it's foolish and probably a bit cruel to say that everything will be OK when it's impossible to know for certain. I hope everything is OK and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you two.
I can tell you that the recovery time may be very long. It's taken my uncle 3-4 months to recover so far. I can't tell for certain how much longer it will be.
I think your fiance is very lucky to have someone who loves him while he recovers. That's worth a lot!

Don't worry honey, everything will be fine.
Calm down.
You got to be strong, remember, these are the times he'll look back at and say, "sweety, you were so strong and you stood by my side you made me strong too, I love you."
