People who have been hurt, maimed, mutilated or deformed have been helped tremendously by the skills of plastic or reconstructive surgeons.

Unfortunately there are some people who develop a disease where they become addicted to plastic surgery and go overboard. We all know the classic examples as they are in the press and made jokes of most notably Michael Jackson, Joan Rivers and Pamela Anderson each for a different reason.

But there are many more people who are helped so I think it's a good thing.

When looking at changing your appearance, plastic surgery is the first thing most people think of. Plastic surgery procedures are able to be performed on most parts of the body including face lifts, tummy tucks, breast surgery. For more information on the different plastic surgery procedures please choose a link from the left hand navigation.

Some times plastic surgery is performed for cosmetic reasons and sometimes for reconstruction purposes. The reasons to choose to have plastic surgery vary from patient to patient, some cosmetic and some medical reason.

Whatever the reasons to have plastic surgery are, it is always wise to make sure you are fully informed of the plastic surgeons qualification. You should make sure that the surgeon has performed your plastic surgery procedure before.

When attending a consulation with your chosen cosmetic plastic surgeon you should always ask to see before and after photos of plastic surgery procedures they have performed.

Everyone has a different opinion about plastic surgery. I guess I would say that, whomever feels comfortable in their own skin wouldn't get it done, and the opposite for the other... So, it's a matter of feeling comfortable in your own skin. I have seen and heard people that actually had over 100 plastic surgeries, because they don't feel comfortable with themselves. They want to look like others, which is costing them a fortune!

Well,to begin with,it is a surgery so no joking there!I don't think it is a matter to take lightly without much consideration.I believe that plastic surgery is really worth it and necessary for functional reasons(nose diaphragm),after a nasty road accident where severe burning or malformation took place,or after mastectomy for women who had breast cancer and some of them could really need a boost of self-confidence.Otherwise I really can't see why to have a plastic surgery. We age naturally and every laugh that we had has its perfect reflection on our face!I wouldn't want to erase that!

I think people should under go plastic surgery only when it is necessary. It's always a life and death situation when you go under the knife. You'll never know. People with insecurities should accept how they look because we are unique in a lot of ways. Beauty won't last forever, it's our own character that will have a bearing.

I pretty much feel the same as "CK". I feel if you have totally looked into the qualifications and recommendations of a Doctor, and have thought good and hard about your decision- GO FOR IT! It's your body, it's your self-esteem, your not hurting anyone else, why not? Why do females bleach their hair? ETC......?No ones fooling anyone here, if most of us had the bucks, we'd all be thinking about rearranging something, SOMEDAY!!

Unless a person is grossly deformed, there is no real need for plastic surgery. It is pure Vanity. Unnecessary and Dangerous.
