Four firefighters in California (so far!) have lost their lives because of arson in the latest wildfire. If the perpetrator(s) is/are found, should they be presented with the death penalty, if a jury finds them guilty?

Acid tongue--I'm actually with you. I'm totally against the death penalty! I'm simply posing a question--but after reading it again, I can see how I was sounding like an advocate! You're right, my bad!

Probably not death, but I'm sure there may enough charges so that they'll get something like over 100 years in jail sentence. Better hope it's not some Hollywood person or they probably walk free.

<>A death occurring during the commission of a felony is a felony murder. No ifs, ands, or buts. Death penalty.

This would never be considered first degree murder...possibly negligent homicide. Therefore no death penalty.

Besides I prefer to think of this as more of a slash and burn style killing.
Like the rain forests. Cut out the trees and burn, makes way for nourishing soil for the next crops.
Burning people to relieve overpopulation, meanwhile enriching the soil.

It's a win-win.

of course. the blaze was put up on purpose. that devil deserves the electric chair. how can one do such a thing. he/she knows the consequence of blazing a fire in a forest as such...therefore punish him/her.
