i live in philippines,is debit card can be our means in receiving money from abroad?particularly in U.S?how can i apply for it?

Open an account at any bank that offers a debit/ATM card as a way of accessing your checking or savings account. Obviously each bank sets their own rules for applying so check it out.

Let your relatives in the US know where to deposit remittance. I've sent money via PNB Remittance and by Xoom.com. Either way, they can transmit your money directly into the bank account you designate and you'll be able to access that money in pesos in a matter of time at any ATM in the Philippines.

Yes I used mine when I was abroad. It's still good to have traveler's cheques and a credit card as well if you can. Be sure you have the lost/stolen card number from each card written down separately somewhere, maybe in your luggage, just in case they are stolen.
