Perth, Australia. Its warm in their winter, a bit too hot in their summer but manageable, wonderful friendly citizens, hardly any graffiti, law abiding with plenty of police visible, beautiful countryside, Alice Springs not too far, which is equally beautiful, Ayers Rock, plenty of wildlife, 80% of the worlds most toxic creatures live in Oz and I only saw them in Perth Zoo. Much cheaper to live than England. If not there, then Nova Scotia. Damn cold in winter, great skiing, warm summers, spectacular countryside and coast line, very friendly people, not as much crime as here, visible police. Much cheaper living. Two dollars to the pound exchange rate. Must go and buy my ticket with Zoom Airlines (cheapest there is to Canada).

I'm Irish but I lived in Swizterland for 8 yrs when I was a kid and loved it, very international kinda city met wonderful people from all walks of life, plus I can speak French now so that's a bonus. After my degree I hope to travel and would definately consider living abroad again. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy Spain prejudices are not cool!

Living abroad has many advantages. The main one being the weather, that is of course if you choose a warmer climate. In that past we have considered living in Holland because of the cleaner living and family orientated lifestyle but our younger children were settled in schools. Recently we are thinking of settling in the Greek Islands for a season possibly as a rep to see whether we like it before we make the plunge. My brother in law has moved to Spain but still comes home (England) for the festive celebrations.
I quite like the changing of seasons but the colder weather and dark nights make me miserable at times.

I think that Switzerland is the ideal country. It has a sensible climate, is very beautiful, offers plenty of things to do and is in a wonderfully strategic position, within easy reach by road or rail of just about anywhere in Europe. But because it has such strict rules about whom it admits and on what conditions, I cannot plan on settling there!

Austrailia. I think that the country and the people are incredible.

Maybe someday I'll get there. I have to finish college first.
