My advice is to work at perfecting your craft. Make sure you have a solid grasp of grammer and vocabulary. Also, good writers are avid readers!
Invest time in reading books by the authors you aspire to be like. Read not just for enjoyment but to observe and to learn. For example, was the novel written in first person, third person, etc.? What elements were used to drive the plot forward? Were there any chapters that lagged or caused you to lose interest? If so, what steps could be taken for improvement? How did the author handle dialouge? Did it flow naturally, or did it feel forced? There is a lot you can learn from published authors simply by reading their books.
With so many vampire stories out there, you'll need a unique voice to make yours stand out from the rest.
Stories are much less complex to write than novels. You could try submitting your finished stories to appropriate magazines for publication.
Also, stay away from vanity presses, such as the one mentioned by a previous poster. For helpful articles and answers to other questions you might be wondering about the world of publishing, check out http://www.absolutewrite.com/

Good luck!

Go to this web site: www.eharlequin.com it's a huge site the Learn to Write channel is the one you're looking for. There are editors, pubbed writers, readers and struggling writers on there all willing to help out. Lots of articles as well as guidelines H/S is looking for. You'll never meet a greater bunch of folks.
Other than that, read, read, read. And write everyday. It takes time, be patient with yourself.

Find out about a local writers group, every town has one.
Also make sure your English is extremely good.
Buy a copy of the writers handbook.
Good luck but be prepared to face lots of rejection because there are millions of would be writers out there and only a handful make it big.
And yes, a book does have to be VERY successful to become a film.

I discover such a lot endings to be disappointing. Make definite via out the publication that the finishing suits the starting. (illustration: Stephen King's "IT" the tale was once quality after which it ended up being a huge spider?!?) Always throw in a couple of phrases that sends your reader to the dictionary. I don't discover a publication valued at at the same time until I be trained a brand new phrase. I have a difficult time at the same time writing of sticking to the factor as my teach of inspiration oftentimes wishes to move in an additional path. I have got to make myself consciousness at the factor and if the brand new ideas are larger I have got to make myself rewrite the starting to make it "fluid".

Getting in the mind of your characters and being descriptive is important. Also not dwelling on one area of the book for to long. I don't know of any books (SORRY). If you have seen half the movies Hollywood puts out you should know that it doesn't have to be good to be made into a movie!

You haev to read a lot of books, and note down some of other author's mistakes and things that he/she has done brilliantly, amking the book a goodread. then use them.

You should write whatever that comes from your heart, this wouldn't sound any good to you know, if you don't understand me. But, later on when you'd already accomplished this, you'll know for sure what I meant! GOOD LUCK
