The treadmill is not that bad, especially if you walk by a high speed for 30 minutes everyday, you can see results. Ecliptical is also a very good option for those thighs. Something that work for both your thighs and your bum is the old fashioned 'lunges'. What I like about it is that you can do it while you are watching tv. Something else you can try that will tighten those buttocks is to do 'squeeze and release' exercises while you are driving, sitting in front in television or computer, basically whenever you are sitting, you squeeze your bum for 5 seconds and release for 3 seconds.Go on like this for 10 min a few times a day and you will see results!

I go running twice a week and that really helps. Not only does it help you tone up but lots of people have commented on my loss of weight. You can make it fun by getting a friend to go running with you, you can have a good chat while running. Also squats are good, but you have to keep your back straight otherwise you wont feel it. You know its working when you feel the strain but dont push yourself too far. I dont believe in cutting down on food to tone up aslong as you exercise it will be fine. Good luck!

Treadmill will help. Elliptical is more effective. Spinning (cycle) classes worked really well for me too. There are also weight machines that focus on those areas as well.

Steps or stairways are good for your bum.

Laying on your side on the floor and doing leg lifts are good for your thighs.
