An example might be Madonna The adaption laws in Malawi would not allow her to adopt, but she has. Maybe her PA is a Malawi resident? Or did she grease a few palms?
Please talk about other examples though as I am sure Madge is going to get enough coverage somewhere else.

It is very good to see that most people have finally decided that the rich and powerful can get away with it. They have been getting away with it for years assisted by corrupt politicians and lawyers etc. Unfortunately nothing will change as long as their 'fellow travellers', dishonest politicians, police and the judiciary go along with it.

Most Definitely! That is why I for one am against the death penalty because the rich can easy escape the noose even when they commit murder.
There are many cases that purely show that the rich are above the law.
For example, in Zambia one of the former president's sons, one castro, was a lawless chap who at several times was involved in brawls and shot a few people. not once did he face the law.
another case is of a convicted drug pusher was just given a fine to pay as punishment when poor peasant farmers caught with a few gramms of marijuana are sentenced to years in prison.
Some other guy, a former top civil servant involved in an anti aids drugs scam almost escaped the law when out of the blue he was given a nolle prosecui by the courts. protests from the people and the media led to a reverse of the verdict. so there are many cases. the rich are indeed above the law. look at usa and britain. they bombed iraq against the UN regulations. what was done to them? Zilch!!

I used to be very irritated during the time when I worked in St James's London and had to pass the Ritz Hotel on my way to and from the tube station by the sight of a very flashy car parked outside the hotel, where nobody else ever dared park. I can't remember the make, but it was impressive enough for tourists to pose for photos beside it. Presumably the owner bribed everyone around to protect it from being clamped. Only once was the owner given a parking ticket, but I'm sure this would have been water off a duck's back.

The super-rich are the law! Madonna is just following the world trends-now it's trendy to have an exotic child!
But maybe the best example is lobbing in some countries. Instead of bribing their politicians, law officers, They (s-r), give them funds for lobbing. And the funds are going to be used for bringing new laws that allow S-R people to do what they want, because after the law is brought it is all legal.

We certainly are above the law. We are above everything. I even employ a team of experts to go to the toilet for me on a regular basis.

As for Madonna, well, she is just a silly bimbo who only wants to please herself and does not care who she crushes in the process. The adoption laws in Malawi were put there with all good intentions and I hope she gets heavily fined for breaking them.

They sure are!
Some rich d00d flies into New Zealand on his own private jet to watch the Americas Cup. Customs officers discover a large stash of weed on his plane and he's busted. The judge in the court case decides to let him go without charges, and he flies home laughing his *** off!
Anyone else, would have been put away faster than a doughnut at a cop shop!

Yes, the rich are above the law. As for Modanna, she probably forked over some cash.
And I know from personal experience that the rich are above the law. They can pay their way out of charges. They can afford better lawyers.

Where as poor people... don't really stand a chance.

yes, sure they are since money can buy so many "professional" expert witnesses that jurors are sold lies and half truths... if that doesn't work then jurors are bought....

However, I bet that 75% of cases that go public that the super rich party is innocent and if the public new all the case details that the populace would say that the media is the only jury that would ever convict...

I suspect she greased a few palms. Bribery and corruption is RIFE in Africa. Check out Transparency International.
However, in many cases, I think it is the association with glamour that gets people what they want. If we all stopped seeing wealth as glamour then it would be unlikely that people would be so easily swayed by bribes. In the end....it all comes down to one person....ones self.

If you have money, and 500 million like madonna, you are above people like you or me. People with money dont have to obey certain laws like mel gibson; had that been you or I backtalking the police officer or resisting arrest, we would have been tackled, beaten, and locked up for 10 years.
