I think most do but wouldn't admit it. Its not entirely their own fault. They are brain washed right from day one into beleiving they need to be the best and they are number one so they probably feel superior to most. Look at rappers with all their bling bragging about killing enemies and scoring with loads of women. Look at sports in schools with the jocks pickin on the nerds. Its all about muscle power and being superior (war anyone????). My brother is coaching football over there at the minute (real football in the true sense of the word) and he says they are all so hung up on personal glory they have no idea of how to play in a team.
And as for winning the war of independence and 'saving our sorry butts in ww2', I'm afraid their glorifying text books are written in a slightly different way to ours. Ours tell the truth, theirs say what they want to have happened and have a few glaring ommisions. They may have won the war of independence but we were clearly kicking their asses, granted they did win a few key battles but then we couldn't really be bothered any more so jacked it in.
I personally have nothing against them as a nation. As others have said, they are victims of their government too and with the government leading such a bad example, who else are they supposed to look up to for guidence. But aren't all governments corrupt? Look at the sleaze and scandal ours comes up with. Its just that as with most things, the Americans do it on a bigger scale.
In short, probably yes, but they are a victim of circumstance, history and culture. But then most nations probably feel superior to at least one other for any number or reasons.

I think its a matter of upbringing, as brits we are brought up a little on the side of inferiority, we are given a good basic understanding of the other nations of the world and our darkest mistakes of empire are rightly taught to us so that we learn by our mistakes.
America does not teach its students about its mistakes as much as they are still too recent, instead they are taught how great America is. This does not make all Americans superior but it does make a lot of them have a skewed view of the world in comparison to the rest of the worlds view of the world.
What amazes me is that if I was metaphorically the only person in a room full of intelligent people who had a different viewpoint from everyone else in the room, at the very least I would listen very carefully to what they had to say, most Americans don't do this, I suppose its defencive because they fill everyone is against them, which I suppose is normal when we are generalising like this.

I don't feel in superior to anyone to be honest with you and I am an American. You know what as a matter of fact my boyfriend is from the UK. I love everyone equally. As for the rest of my fellow American's I don't think they feel superior to any of the Brits. Although Lord only knows about our president. Idiot! Him that is sorry! I don't think you have much to think about when it comes to this question. There are people out there thou that do feel superior over others. But not all of us. So please don't hate us just because we are American's just hate the ones hating you. It don't just go for American's either....

I think most nationalities feel superior to the rest.
We only know about American's "superiority complex"
because American culture is prevalent in film, TV
and on the Web, and it's the only superpower.
I know most Brits would not want to be American
(probably vice versa) just as the French wouldn't
want to be Brits.
Etc.

Reading the answers it appears Brits feel inferior to americans. I am an americans and I believe americans in general think of the British and sophisticated and regal. The only reason americans may feel superior is we won the revolutinary war. I find these generalizing questions more informative about the answerer rather than the answer itself. Enjoy

Having been sent out to populate America and having failed Miserably, they feel its their duty to put on a show, a facade and tell the world they are superior.
If Americans can generate enough kids then then can be allowed to feel superior.
